Why use the Testing Center?

Scheduling Exams: Instructors who wish to utilize the Testing Center services can easily access Accommodate to upload their exams and provide any specific instructions.

 

Accommodations Management: Students with approved accommodations can take their exams in a supervised environment without the need for instructors to be present.

 

Integrity: Instructors can trust that students are taking their exams in a secure environment that upholds both integrity and exam security.

 

Make-up Exams: Instructors can use the Testing Center to administer make-up exams for students who have an excused absence.

Instructor Responsibilities

Accommodations and Supports:  You are not required to use the Testing Center for providing accommodations, test-taking supports, or make-up exams. However, if you choose not to use the Testing Center, you must provide timely accommodations to students who request them.

 

Exam Completion: Before submitting your exam, complete and review it yourself or have a TA complete it to identify any errors or typos.

 

If you have submitted your exam and made revisions within three days of your scheduled test date, please inform the testing center by calling 919-684-1601 or emailing us at testingcenter@duke.edu.

 

Additional Information

 

Attachments: any additional materials, such as formula pages or scantron sheets.

Proctoring Instructions:  Provide clear, written proctoring instructions.

Electronic Exams: Include any necessary passwords for electronic exams.

Paper Exam Formatting: To ensure proper formatting, submit paper exams in PDF format.

Appointment Options:  The Testing Center offers both in-person/on-campus and limited remote appointments.

Operating Hours: The Testing Center operates by appointment only, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. 

Exam booking requests: must be made well in advance of the exam day and at least four (4) days in advance.

Start times for exams: must align with the in-class administration of the exam.

Exceptions for accommodation-related time adjustments: must be approved by the instructor.
